“Gran Paradiso: where nature conservation meets innovation”
A journey into the wild heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park, through stories set in the high mountains.
Gran Paradiso reveals itself with:
- The presentation of the book “Il Re. Lo stambecco del Parco Nazionale Gran Paradiso”, photographs by Giorgio Marcoaldi, foreword by Marta Cartabia, texts by Luisa Vuillermoz and Bruno Bassano, watercolours by Maria Elena Ferrari.
- The presentation of the book “Un cuore in vetta – La seconda vita di una donna più forte del destino” by Milena Béthaz.
- The Gran Paradiso Film Festival – the third longest-running international wildlife film festival in the world.
- La Sibilla del Gran Paradiso – the avatar based on generative artificial intelligence that welcomes and advises visitors to the Park.
On Sunday 17 May at 16:15 in the Sala della Montagna, Fondation Grand Paradis will be a guest at the Turin International Book Fair, Italy’s most important publishing event, with a talk entitled “Gran Paradiso: Where Nature Conservation Meets Innovation”, in collaboration with the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta.
“Bringing our organisation to the Turin Book Fair,” says Luisa Vuillermoz, director of the Fondation Grand Paradis, “is an opportunity to explain to the general public the importance of developing and promoting an innovative vision that brings together culture and nature, history and the future, tourism and everyday life. Through experiences, testimonies and stories, the Alpine territory of Gran Paradiso will be brought to life in a journey into the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park, amidst tales that inhabit the high altitudes.”
The authentic soul of Gran Paradiso will be revealed through the texts and evocative images by photographer Giorgio Marcoaldi collected in the book: “Il Re. Lo stambecco del Parco Nazionale Gran Paradiso”, followed by the first-person account of Milena Béthaz, author of the book “Un cuore in vetta – La seconda vita di una donna più forte del destino”, the protagonist of an extraordinary story that has already won over the general public, starting with the audience at the Gran Paradiso Film Festival, the world’s third-longest-running international wildlife film festival, now in its 29th edition. Guiding the audience on this journey will be Luisa Vuillermoz herself, accompanied by Manuela Farina, who will describe some of the most significant initiatives of the Fondation Grand Paradis. These include the Sibilla del Gran Paradiso, the avatar based on generative artificial intelligence that welcomes and informs visitors to the Park; Federico Pugliese will explore the technological aspects of this project in greater depth.
The event will conclude with an immersive experience during which the public will be able to interact directly with “Sibilla del Gran Paradiso”. In line with the theme of this year’s Salone, “The World Saved by Children”, the Sibyl will also be able to provide information on educational and cultural initiatives aimed at young people, highlighting the central role of Fondation Grand Paradis in promoting the participation of the younger generation as agents of change, imagination and hope, investing in the future of the community and the region.
