Lake Pellaud
The intimate beauty of the Rhêmes Valley, made of silences, transparencies, light and shadow is reflected in the water mirrors of Lake Pellaud protected by larches and spruces. It is a magical place where the water gurgles and whispers about the delicate balance of an ecosystem where man and nature coexist in harmony. At Pellaud, the wild nature of the great mountains becomes gentle and welcoming, offering the experience of living and observing the wonder of the seasons: the brilliant green of summer, the brushstrokes of yellow and red in autumn, the motionless white of winter and the hushed voice of the spring thaw. The shade of the larch and fir forest is the little big secret that gives life to trout and grass frogs in need of cold water. Don't miss the short walk to the upper Pellaud, where the water draws a wetland that opens up towards the sky and the rock walls of the Entrelor pass. The trail leads past the old mill that was converted into the valley's first hydroelectric power station in 1921.
